OPRA Turbines

The OP16 gas turbine combines robustness and simplicity with high performance

The OP16 gas turbine has an all-radial design that provides robustness, reliability, high efficiency and low emissions. The advanced combustion systems from OPRA Turbines offer multi-fuel capability, giving the OP16 the ability to handle a wide range of liquid and gaseous fuels.

Fuel Flexibility

The OP16 Gas Turbine is suitable for a wide range of fuels. The robust yet advanced combustion systems give the OP16 the capability to operate on liquid and/or gaseous fuels. The moderate pressure ratio of the OP16 makes it possible to operate on low fuel-gas pressure. The OP16 can be equipped with low emission combustors or low BTU fuel combustors.

Robust Design

The OP16 Gas Turbine has an all-radial design which provides robustness, reliability, high efficiency, and low emissions. The four external can-type combustors allow for easy access to the turbine hot flow path reducing the amount of downtime during maintenance. The robust design, as well as having the bearings located in the cold section of the turbine, allows the OP16 to run for 40,000 hours before a major overhaul is recommended.

High CHP Capability

The innovative design of the OP16 Gas Turbine results in high heat-to-power ratio. This allows OPRA Turbines to generate high exhaust temperatures, making the OP16 highly suitable for combined heat and power (CHP) applications. The overhung design places all bearings in the cold section of the turbine ensuring an oil-free exhaust flow which can be used for direct drying applications.

Small Footprint

The high power density of the radial turbine allows for a compact and small design with only a third of the moving parts of conventional equipment. This small footprint and low weight are also reflected in OPRA Turbine's package design. The OP16 Gas Turbine is enclosed within 2 X 20 ft containers allowing for quick and easy installation. These compact and low-weight packages enable easy transportation and installation of OPRA Turbines equipment.

How it works

Our radial design has unique advantages

OPRA Turbines
  1. 1

    Reduction Gear

Allows the use of compact 4-pole generators for 50 or 60 Hz applications.

  2. 2

    Compressor

The Compressor ratio allows for direct use of low fuel-gas pressures minimizing the need for external gas compression.

  3. 3

    Bearings

Bearings in the cold part allows minimal oil consumption and a guaranteed oil-free exhaust.

  4. 4

    Combustors

Can be fitted and exchanged based on fuel requirements. All combustor types are interchangeable.

  5. 5

    Radial Turbine

Allows for high fuel flexibility due to lack of cooling holes and robust forged design.

  6. 6

    Exhaust

Oil-free and high temperature resulting in clean, oxygen-rich exhaust with high mass flow.
